You too…

Saturday, March 18th, 2006

So we are in Lakeland right now and it is Saturday morning. The Saturday morning after a momentous occasion…so momentous might be an overstatement but it was still pretty darn cool. We went and saw Brian Regan last night at the Youkie Theater. Now, if you have been around me at all over the past four years you probably have heard me quote or been forced to listen to the only comedian I have ever liked. I have got to say that last night I was not let down at all! And let me just pause to give credit where credit is due. I was introduced to Brian Regan during the summer of 2002 by the Tuscaloosa band (specifically Jacob Corey gets the credit in my opinion though there is some debate about this), so Delana Brown, Stephanie Michelle (Khalilian) Woody, Chris Penuel, Chris Baten, Paris Vega, Candice Ashford and of course Derek Sullivan let me say a big thank you for that summer! 🙂

Oh and YOU TOO!!!

So I need to post . . .

The next time someone asks me what the hardest part of being married is I might say, “The Blog”. I’m just not very good at remembering to write anything here. I won’t even try to start where I left off, that is two months of stuff.

So, here’s where I am today. Currently I’m reading Velvet Elvis. Just started it actually so I cannot comment on the content yet. This book comes in a series of books I’ve been reading about a shift in the church and what it means to be an evangelical. A lot of what I’ve been reading resonates with me. Some of it challenges my thinking and all of it adds to what God has already been speaking into my life – – I need to be more intentional about sharing the love of Jesus with others. I mean, in the big scheme of things that is what most of life is about because of what I do at Book of Hope, but . . . there is a lot more I can do to reach those around me.

Other than that we have just been up to regular things. Friday we had dinner with Derek, Stephanie & Linda . . .and Saturday we had lunch with Tommy, Paula & Emily . . . two families who are my dearest friends. Emily’s birthday is today. She is growing up into an incredible young lady and we love being with her.

More later . . .

My wife needs to post

I think that my wife needs to post some updates….

I am sitting in a room with all of our Regional Directors, International Operations Coordinators, Core Directors, and Executive Team and I am amazed.  These people are just an amazing group, the depth of thought they have and their God given abilities to analyze and think through issues and problems….it is just impressive.

Hope Celebration

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006

Well it is that time of the year again…Hope Celebration. The time of year that drives us all crazy and stresses us out, but it is also the time of year when God really shows us how faithful He is.

Life is good but we have been super busy. Someday I should post some pictures of the keys on our flickr account…but probably not tonight.

OK, so blogging is such a strange thing to me. I mean is there anyone that really wants to read random thoughts from Jon? What in a day is so interesting that it should be posted online? I don’t even think I recognize things as they happen throughout the day that someone else might find funny (or maybe I just can never remember them). Regardless I guess I don’t feel my life is all that interesting…my goal is to think of some things that might be interesting to write about…
