Frustrating

June 4th, 2007

So this whole remodeling of the bathroom has been a somewhat frustrating experience. I really thought that we would have been completely finished with the bathroom today and now I am pretty sure that the bathroom will not even be half finished by the time my dad leaves. You’ll have to watch the video I guess to see how tonight ended.

It is 11:51 PM . . .

. . . it will be later than that when I actually post this.

The bathroom is progressing, but it seems that the current step is much more difficult than anyone expected (I’m not really sure, I’m trying to stay out of the way). From what I’ve been told, the cement for the shower pan has to be mixed quite dry and then made level but sloping towards the drain (I realize this is contradictory, but I don’t know how else to explain it).

Ken & Jon have both been working really hard. They won’t let me do anything except feed them. I was going to post new pics, but I think I’ll wait until tomorrow.

I’m not quite sure what to do with myself . . . I’ve thought about finishing the cleaning I started this morning, the laundry needs to be put away put every inch of our bedroom is covered in tools (it is the ‘staging’ area), and since I’m trying to stay out of the way taking care of the laundry might not be the best idea . . .

Progress . . .

Ken is here this week helping Jon with the bathroom. They’ve been at it for two days and are making progress. As I write, they are building the shower pan, occasionally it sounds like the ceiling is going to come down.

Here are some pics (hope you find pipes exciting) . . .

Back to the grind

May 22nd, 2007

Here it is lunch time on Tuesday after vacation, sigh. Only 38 urgent follow up items, too bad every time I cross one off someone sends another email and I add something else to the list.

Vacation was great, made some decent progress on the bathroom as shown in Nicole’s post below. And of course we had to take a couple of days to go to Lakeland where my in laws have the best house to do nothing and eat great food. Sunday we had the interns and some RT (probably warrants further explanation but I don’t feel like writing more right now) over for dinner. The best part about having interns and RT over is the leftovers. Well maybe the best part is spending time with these great guys and girls who are either getting ready to go out on the mission field for a few months or they are just coming back from being out for a few months and getting to know them. Let’s see if I can remember them all…(Todd would be proud of me though the spellings may be way off): returning interns Kyle, Matt, Todd, Alise, Karina, Lauren and new interns Jessie, Kelsie, and Jen and of course fabulous RT folks Woody, Michelle, Christine, and the Wests. Somehow Bruce got added to the mix too?

Sigh…lunch is over

Vacation . . .

May 15th, 2007

. . . means doing a lot of nothing, at least this time around. Originally I was planning several days at the beach, but it has been raining for two days. Before you say awhh, you should know we are officially in a ‘drought’ (I admit that I find this to be a slight exaggeration, particularly when you think of what drought means in most parts of the world. Here it means you can only water your lawn once a week). Either way, we do need the rain so we have not been complaining.

Jon has been tearing our master bathroom out (I guess I shouldn’t say he is doing nothing, but I am). I’ll post a pic below. It isn’t that exciting to see, but I’m so glad it is happening!

Tomorrow we are going to visit my parents . . . more of nothing! Its a perfect place to relax, hopefully no rain and I’ll have a few days at the pool.

More later . . .
